Westside lifestyle with a family-oriented feel, great food, weather and people.

Welcome to West Los Angeles

The area south of Brentwood and Westwood called West Los Angeles is bordered by Beverly Glen, Sepulveda, Santa Monica, and Pico Boulevards. Neighboring communities include Century City, Cheviot Hills, Rancho Park, Sawtelle, and Veterans Administration. The area is surrounded by three country clubs: Brentwood, Los Angeles, and Hillcrest. UCLA, Westwood, and Beverly Hills are minutes away.

With the arrival of Anglo settlers after the Mexican-American War, the original Spanish land grant owners sold or were forced out, and by the beginning of the 20th century, the area was mostly bean and wheat fields. Many Japanese immigrants settled in the district, establishing orchards and nurseries, some still in business today.

With its central location between Los Angeles and the ocean, West LA has attracted a diverse range of commercial development with several high-rise office buildings along Olympic, Santa Monica, and Wilshire Boulevards. Two of Los Angeles's tallest residential towers are at its northern edge. Housing is a mixture of low-rise apartment buildings, mostly inhabited by young professionals and working-class families, and single-story homes with the 1920s through mid-century and contemporary architecture styles.
